I loved the story of Bill and Frank. Was a solid 10/10, but genuinely what was the point of it when they did anyway. If it led to Bill somehow surviving the suicide attempt and that's why he turns into a bitter old man in the next episode or whenever and we get all the classic Joel/Ellie/Bill scenes then sure, absolutely give us a full episode with just Bill and Frank and how they came to be.
The Last of Us: Part I (2022) is a remake of the first game, initially a PS5 exclusive, will be released on PC at march 28th. Essentially is the same original game, but remade from scratch, featuring better graphics, more accessibility options and gameplay tweaks. Unlike the original and the remaster, Part I does not feature a multiplayer mode.

Video games and TV are totally different mediums. What works in one doesn’t necessarily work in the other, and that’s ok. The show is not a 1:1 shot for shot live action reshoot of the game, it’s adapting that story to a new medium. Some stuff will be the same and some will be different.
The Last of Us games, especially 2, has some mountainous cognitive dissonance issues that wont fly in a more matured storytelling medium like TV or film. The story in the games are supposed to challenge you on the value of human life but the linear actions you're forced to do are in disagreement with what the story is saying.
