Also decided on getting a remap in a few months but now investigating best place to get done as heard a lot of nightmare stories mixed reviews from places. Don't mind paying a little more for piece of mind. Somewhere near Berkshire ideally. Oh yeah, also want to add an M performance kit to my car. Had one on my 330 which looked great.

Edit: take your current car to Wales / North Yorkshire and drive it in 'manual' with the paddles and try and use all your current power.. I know £500 is cheap but I meant its expensive for the gains you get. You can pay the same and get remap from the place in scotland that gives you 310bhp. Appreciate 0.
A simple remap on the 320d takes you well into 530d performance territory. Pre-LCI 320d has problems with camshaft tensioners and chains, this is identifiable by a ringing noise from the engine. Post-2016 facelift cars come with improved suspension and steering, but it's not possible to find such LCI cars in your budget.
