The Automatic, Sedan version of the E30 BMW 325i was introduced for the 1986 model year. These sedans were powered by BMW's M20B25 engine, which was a 2.5L inline six with an output of 168hp and 164 lb ft of torque. Drive from the engine was sent to the rear wheels via a 4 speed automatic transmission. Production of the Automatic-equipped, E30 Length 176.8 inches. MSRP $16,430/$20,970 (1984 318i/325e); $27,300 (1987 325i) Gasp! Some early E30 prototypes had front-drive, but BMW's enthusiast engineers won the day—insisting the drive Any older and a used BMW becomes a classic. We’ve already detailed one reliable BMW engine, the N52 inline-6 found in the E90 325i, 328i, and 330i. Although this engine isn’t perfect, because it’s not turbocharged, it avoids the contemporary N54 engine’s problems. Plus, the N52 doesn’t suffer from the E90 M3’s rod-bearing issue. Chase Bays M54B30 E30 Build. 05-31-2016, 02:39 PM. Hey folks! My name is Chase and I am finally building an E30! I’m no stranger to BMW’s and I’ve had a few as daily drivers (E28 535i, E30 318is, E30 325i, E34, E36 328is, E92 335i) but never been able to actually build one to my liking. I am very excited.
The other thing to keep in mind is that these are great cars stock. While they look awesome all fixed up, new suspension and paint, etc, an old stock e30 that runs is still a ton of fun. A $15,000 325is is not even 3x better than that $4000 325i.
